This year, 2010, Adobe is planning to create the article of “World Famous Productions All Over the World" as a series of Adobe Edge Newsletter. In this sense, Adobe Japan has asked for an interview with us.

Could you introduce Navistd?

Navistd. is a creative studio founded by Kerem Kandıralı in 2008. Although I was originally working for some creative agencies in Istanbul, I decided to be become an independent as I realized that I couldn’t get along with their working style. Thanks to the sites which received FWA's site of the day and other awards, we've been growing up rapidly and got many clients from various industries like film distributers, fashion brands, photographers, architects etc.. Incidentally, we are the agency which has the most FWA awards in Turkey.

What do you mean, "couldn't get along with"?

This might not be a right expression, generally, the agencies in Turkey are spoiled with the worship of money. They stop working when they finish what client said. Typically, it shows strong tendency if an agency is involved with this project. They just focus finishing off the project and billing for it. Even though clients are reasonably satisfied with this, I wanted to do more. The sites we made are like our children and I didn’t wanted to release them incomplete. We are the professionals of web designing and I believe we should expand clients' original idea and present better solution. Besides, money runs after us if we pursuit quality, not runs after money itself.

Could you show me the sites Navistd. made?

Though it's launch was bit old as 2008, I'd like to put this first as this is very important site for us. This is a portfolio site of a Turkish photographer who lives in Germany. This is the first FWA awarded site of Navistd. At that time, there are few sites like this one in Turkey and this style become a synonym of Navistd. though it was actually not really new considering about the world's trend.

This is a site for a design agency in Germany. We had actually big argues about some design styles with the CEO of the client but he likes the final output. And this is absolutely our pleasure as Navistd takes the client's satisfaction as the first priority.

This is a site for a big photo house in Turkey. Like the other sites from us, the basic style of Navistd is simple design and brisk animation. At this site, we especially put our efforts on transition animations and I'd like visitors to check them when they visit the site.

By the way, we usually get new clients from the clients we worked for before. Or sometimes they come from awards sites like FWA. We like this style as we don’t have to sell ourselves and the new clients knows our style.

Do you have any source of inspiration?

Uh, nothing special. Or maybe I like walking around the small forest near to the office and having a quite time there. And also my ambition, the ambition that I want Navistd to be the No.1 agency leads us to the next level, I believe. In fact, I 'm not really interested in the recent technologies although I'm working in a web industry which is the incarnation of recent technologies . I use a simple mobile phone and don’t have a facebook account. I know it depends on your usage but I'd rather concentrate on my creative process than wasting my time with these catchy things.

Are there any agencies you are keen on?

I like Group94 and Big Spaceship. Or C-Section if I choose from Turkish agencies. But I believe we shouldn’t be attached with those top agencies. In order to make great sites, we should seek for our own creativity.

By the way how do you use Adobe products?

Of course everyday. Maybe I could say every hour. We mainly use Flash and Photoshop besides Dreamweaver and Illustrator as well. Everything is essential for Navistd's creation.

What kind of characteristics do you want for the people work with you in Navistd?

A person who can share our values. As I told, we love the sites we make as if they are our child and work very hard to make them the best quality. Therefore, the person who can understand our values is the most important.

Do you have any future plan?

We are reasonably satisfied with the current situations and do not think about quick expansion. But it would be great to work in the other countries in the future.
